Chassis

Daytona Coupe Spec Racer chassis

Round Tube

  • seamless 4130N aircraft alloy, chrome-moly round tube with thicknesses ranging from 0.065 to 0.120

Roll cage

  • 0.120 wall seamless chrome-moly; 6 points with driver and passenger lower non-removable side door intrusion bars

Daytona Coupe Spec Racer front suspensionSuspension

  • Front unequal length wishbones
  • Upper arms: 1" threaded aluminum swaged tubes located with chrome-moly/Teflon Heim joints (totally adjustable for camber, caster, and toe)
  • Lower arms: asymmetrical and fabricated out of 1" chrome-moly round tube attached via Poly-bushed Heim joints (adjustable and utilize the standardized screw in heavy duty Chrysler type ball joints and both tied together by custom billet steel spindles)
  • Hubs: front - Wilwoods billet aluminum heavy-duty hubs; rears (on the differential) are heat-treated aluminum or steel, both with the standard Chevy bolt circle.
  • Front sway bar: 1 ¼" hollow tube adjustable located under the radiator on aluminum pillow block bushings
  • Steering rack: custom BRT quick-ratio NON-power unit (several ratios available upon request)

Brake system

Calipers

  • Brake Man Company F-4 series 4-piston calipers (front and rear)

Rotors

  • Brake Man Revolution Series 13 ½" x 1¼" vented rotors

Pedals

  • Tilton or Coleman; 7-position proportioning valve

Wheels

  • Bogart RR-10 17" front & rear CNC machined 3-piece double spun aluminum with 5-lug centers. (Tires are the Hoosier D.O.T. approved racing slicks)

Engine

Block

  • Ford 302/331cid; fully race prepped throughout; 450-hp @ 6800rpm

Fuel System

  • Barry Grant race carb branded race car fuel block

Cooling system

  • Custom HDR 3- row, dual pass aluminum radiator with Meziere's billet aluminum electric pump

Oiling system

  • 13-qt dual filter wet sump with a Milodon 4-baffle road-race pan & Mocal performance oil cooler (A dry sump system can be substituted and is offered as an additional option)

Exhaust system

  • Headers & side pipes; ceramic coated with HDR's Arclite system

Drivetrain

Gearbox

  • T-5z w/ short throw shifter; specifically re-outfitted from new to endure the stresses of non-professional road racing, with several 1st and over drive gear ratios available at time of build
    - Mcleod Billet aluminum fly wheel
  • Kevlar custom fabricated clutch disc and pressure plate; both designed and built directly to each car's finished weight and H/P (A Richmond 5-speed or Jerico 4- speed can be substituted and is offered as an additional option; however, additional chassis work is involved to fit these units and the installation price will be base on our current custom shop rate of $125.00 per hour)

Driveshaft

  • Custom made aluminum drive shaft

Differential

  • Custom fabricated extreme performance bored 9" style floater with 1.5 degrees of camber built in
  • Auburn Pro-Series posi (several final drive ratios are available)
  • CNC machined hollow gun drilled axles
  • Heat treated aluminum hubs
  • Chromemoly drive plates
  • Axles are located to our chassis via the triangulated Satchell link system, all attached with chrome-moly/Teflon Heims joints

Fuel Cell

Custom aluminum 22 gallon cell w/rollover valves throughout (Larger cells can be fabricated as needed in coupes only)

  • Braided high-pressure lines (1/2")
  • Aeroquip fittings
  • Holley Pro electric fuel pumps
  • Under hood fuel pressure gauge

Body

  • Lightweight Cormatt carbon fiber reinforced fiberglass; Lexan windows and four rear brake lights (A D.O.T safety glass wind screen is available in our Coupes as an option) (Complete carbon fiber body is available as an option)

Interior

  • Steel reinforced floors; lowered 2" from the original Coupes (an additional 2" of seat drop is available for taller drivers)
  • Aluminum dash face, inner door panels, and sills
  • Foot boxes, fire wall & transmission tunnel are all double walled aluminum paneled with 3/4" of foil sided high heat insulation (dramatically reduces heat and sound transmission)
  • Fresh air vented driver's foot box and cockpit
  • Kirkey aluminum race seat with tweed cover
  • Driver's side Crow 5-point Cam-Lock restraint harness
  • Removable steering wheel
  • Halon fire system
  • AutoMeter race gauge set

Ignition

  • Single MSD-6T Road-race system (a dual switch-able MSD system w/2 6T ignition boxes mounted inside the cockpit, coupled together and switch-able from the dash is also available as an option; this system also comes with an automatic coil selector and the MSD Pro-Billet aluminum distributor)

Paint

  • Single stage base color; no stripes (Custom paint schemes and colors are available)

Public Road Restriction

  • HDR Spec racers will not be afforded an HDR production car VIN number under any circumstances; they are sold as strictly dedicated race-only cars and can not be legally titled
