All HDR custom rods are produced to the same exacting specifications and with the same high-end materials and parts, which have always been standard fare on our extreme performance Cobras.
Highland Daytona Racing has taken custom hot rods to the next level of custom car evolution. Each custom rod is hand crafted from the ground up, starting with your car's chassis being fabricated from 4130N aircraft alloy chromoly. HDR's custom triangulated twin tube design has more in common with today's GT race and NHRA drag cars than the standard street rod chassis of old. The use of 4130N moly tubing assures you of the highest strength possible, which also assures you of the highest safety and handling characteristics, whether cruising through tight corners or drag racing at the local track. Now you can have the styling of your favorite hot rod and enjoy the sure-footed exhilaration of sports car handling!
Suspensions for Highland Daytona Racing Custom Hot Rods
Each Highland Daytona Racing custom hot rod shares the exact same fully adjustable front and rear suspension system used in our world-renowned Cobra 427FIA and Cobra Daytona Coupe turnkey replica cars. The front suspension boasts several degrees of anti-dive geometry, with a consistent progressive camber design, which moves through 4 degrees of camber from a zero static camber setting. This slow moving progressive geometry promotes driver confidence and affords the driver a constant and complete tire foot print on the pavement, where it needs to be throughout any turn. The custom GT-1 LeMans style road race steering rack gives the car laser-sharp steering accuracy and incredible smoothness. And last, but surely not least in any drivers mind is: No Bump-steer under any circumstances!
The rear suspension is the Satchell Link System from world-renowned race car engineer Mr. Terry Satchell. The Satchell link suspension system boasts the following geometry:
- 65% Anti-Squat
- 25% Anti-Lift
- Less Than 4% Roll Under-Steer!
The Satchell Link System is equally at home on a drag strip or on a road racecourse. The system is superior in every way compared to any other 3 or 4 links and all OEM-based independent rear linking systems. As with HDR's Cobras, the rear differential housing is a totally custom fabricated 9" style floater which can have up to 2 degrees of camber built into it, along with 1/16" of toe in, built into the housing for high speed and braking stability.
