HDR Cobra Roadster, FIA 427 Cobra Replica
Highland Daytona Racing is a leading FIA Cobra Roadster designer and manufacturer. Inspired by the rarest of all Shelby Cobras, each HDR FIA Cobra is hand fabricated from the ground up using only the highest quality materials and components available to ensure the utmost level of performance, reliability and driver safety.
The HDR FIA Roadster was originally fashioned to replicate one of only two original 427 FIA Race Cobras. From the FIA exterior accoutrements originally taken from the 289 FIA race cars and carried over to the first few 427 cars, the Highland Daytona Racing race bred look and all business aluminum interior always set the tone wherever your Cobra Roadster goes. Although the frame may appear different from our Daytona Coupe, the Cobra Roadster shares exactly the same suspension parts and geometry, along with virtually every other bolt on part.
Experience
HDR's chief designers bring more than 60 years of collective experience (from the structural aviation and aerodynamics fields) in mechanical systems maintenance, design, fabrication and engineering along with their passion for making the Cobra Roadster the indisputable standard in Shelby Cobra 427 Roadster reproductions.
Technology
America's premier race engineer, Terry Satchell, designed the Satchell Link rear suspension system used on our FIA Cobra Roadster. The Satchell Link rear suspension provides by far the best handling and all around high performance rear set-up obtainable, short of a Formula 1 style IRS system.
Performance
As tested with our 351w,hp @450 horsepower, the Cobra Roadster accelerates to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds with braking back to a standstill in 106 feet. The 1/4 mile turns in 11.4 seconds at 126.4 mph.
Safety
Safety is a top priority and integral to our design approach. Highland Daytona Racing incorporates a Chrome-moly frame and suspension in every Cobra Roadster; this set-up is five times stronger than the standard mild steel typically used in automotive fabrication. Our 16-gauge steel floor is welded around its entire perimeter.
To further protect the occupants, we welded in large lateral straps to each side of the frame.
This set-up is as strong, if not stronger than the current Winston Cup car set-ups. Each Highland Daytona Racing Cobra Roadster will exceed safety compliance rules in any of today's most stringent race sanctioning bodies.
Cobra Roadster - Rooted in the past, a formidable performer in the present
When it comes down to material, fabrication and design, the Highland Daytona Racing 427 FIA Cobra Roadster can stand right up along side of today's most popular GT- 2 & 3 full blown race cars and look great while doing so.
